The Strength of Eagles

This week, Ron Hutchcraft shared a story that spoke to my heart. He said that when eagles get tired and weary, they fly up onto a cliff, lay down on their backs with their wings spread out, and face the sun. Their eyes are made to be okay when they stare at the sun. They lay there staring into the sun until they gain their strength back.
In January, I got super sick with what all my doctors thought was Covid. All year, I have been fighting to feel better. Most days, I feel pretty rotten. Often, I climb into bed after work. I also have difficulty making it to the next doctor’s appointment without a visit to the emergency room. Recently, I was in so much pain that I begged my doctor to change my medications. I felt so rotten. Thankfully, the new medicines are working better. God is beginning to answer my prayers.
This story about the eagle spoke to my heart this week. My life is like the story of the eagle. This has been my life all year. God comes alongside us when we are exhausted and worn out, helping us regain our strength. As I lay there staring at the sun, God hears me and is right beside me, filling me with the strength and healing I need.
