A Key
Tonight I couldn't help thinking about a key. We often think about its use in a door but over the years I have realized a symbolism in my own life. We all have moments where we feel we are twisted into a knot and tangled up so we have difficulty identifying the many feelings inside of us. When this happens it is easy to stuff these thoughts and emotions down and shut them behind a locked door. Then we walk away forgetting about these feelings until God brings someone into our life who finds the hidden key to unlock the door and suddenly we realize that those things that we thought were hidden, gone and impossible are suddenly possible. Feelings that have been long suppressed suddenly come to life and we begin to live again and breathe deeply.
God knows us better than we know ourselves. He sees our sorrow, our pain, our joy, and our happiness. When we hurt He hurts. "God is close to the brokenhearted. He saves the contrite in spirit. Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the LORD delivers him from them all." Psalm 34:18, 19. May we lean close in the arms of our healing Savior.
