Positive Lights
When I was a child I was mesmerized by the lights that flitted through the sky at night during the summer. My favorite thing to do was to chase after those glowing lights. I'd catch them in my hands and put them into a jar. By the end of the evening I had a huge slew of lightening bugs in my jar and I'd let them light up my room while I slept. Their glow always fascinated me. Tonight when I went outside to walk our dogs there were flitters of light throughout the twilight sky and I was reminded of my childhood fun. A firefly flew onto our door as I entered my home and I couldn't resist catching it in my hands. I carried it inside and put it in a jar with a lid. Then I went out and caught some more. They lit up the table as I prepared supper. I admired their glow just as I did when I was a child.
As I've thought about the light of the fireflies it made me think about my own light. Each one of us has the ability to be a positive light for Christ. Daily what we say, what we do and how we act are a reflection of God. Will we be a positive light for Him today? We have a choice each and every day to either uplift someone with our words or to discourage and hurt someone. Do our actions show Christlike values? Are we mirroring Christ? Lord, please help us be more like you. May our actions and words be ones that you would like for us to have. Help us be positive lights for you Lord each and every day that we live.
